Vintage Canadian Assumption Wool Sash 132 inches long w/ fringe, 7 inches wide

Description

A 132 inch long wool Canadian Assumption sash measured including the fringe. About 2 1/4 inches of the 28 inch long fringe is braided. The part of the sash measured without the fringe section is 76 inches in length. In width the sash measures from 7 inches wide to 7 1/4 inches wide, the width varying slightly at different points.
I purchased this sash a few years ago at a local auction. I have always admired these types of sashes. So, doing what many of us antiques dealers do, I bought what I liked. I hadn’t gotten around to doing anything with this till now. In the process of researching this before listing it, I find that there is a lot to learn about these sashes. I see that the pattern is that of the Assumption sashes with arrow and lightning bolt designs.
When I bought the sash it was described as being made of worsted wool. I assumed that the person (a man who is highly informed about Indian items) who likely was involved in describing it would know what he was talking about if he called it worsted wool. So perhaps it is worsted wool. But in researching how to determine how something is made of worsted wool, I found that the description of worsted wool made me doubt whether this is worsted wool. So I mention this so that you know how it was described and that you also know that I don’t know for sure if it is worsted wool. I also don’t know if it is finger woven or loom woven. To be helpful on these points I have provided close up photos of the wool and weave to help you decide whether the wool is worsted or not and whether it is finger or loom woven. The condition is superb.
